The 19th Annual Meeting of ESCV in 2016 will take place at the Altis Grand Hotel, an iconic symbol of the polite and genuine Portuguese hospitality. Practical Information

Participants will receive their badges onsite at the registration desk.

The congress badge should be worn by all participants at all times during the congress to ensure access to the relevant areas. This includes the scientific sessions, the coffee-breaks and lunches, the exhibit area and other areas of the congress venue as well as the social activities.

Only participants wearing their congress badge will be admitted to the scientific sessions, to the exhibition and to the social events and catering.

Banks in Lisbon are generally open from Monday to Friday, from 08:30 to 15:00.

If you require additional information, please ask at the registration desk staff. They will be able to direct you to the closest bank.

There is on-street parking along Rua Castilho, where the conference venue is located, and in the surrounding streets, all of which is controlled by parking meters during the day. The street parking is very limited.

Alternatively, the nearest car park is "Empark" at Rua Alexandre Herculano (5 minutes walking distance from the conference venue, Altis Grand Hotel).

There are cash machines nearby. The closest one is 2 minutes walking distance from the conference venue.

The official currency of Portugal is the Euro.

The dress code for the conference, including the welcome reception and the gala dinner, is informal.

All participants are reminded that the Conference Organisation (ESCV, Local Organization, Abreu PCO, Conference Venue) is not liable for any losses, accidents or damage to persons or private property. Participants and accompanying persons are strongly advised to make their own arrangements in respect of health, personal and travel insurance in their country of origin. Participation in all excursions, tours etc. is at personal risk.

English is the official language of the meeting. There will be no simultaneous translation.

All participants are asked to switch mobile phones off or to silent mode during the scientific sessions.

Smoking is not permitted in closed public areas, including the conference venue, airports, hotels, restaurants, shops, or workplaces and is only allowed in specific designated/signed areas.

- Presentation technology:

The scientific sessions room will be equipped with a laptop and a data projector. To assure high service quality and a near seamless transition between different talks and speakers, a network-based presentation system will be used along with a conference specific interface.


- Presentation format:

PowerPoint presentations - PC version or Mac - are brought to the conference on a USB memory stick.

The PowerPoint presentations must be in a 16:9 widescreen ratio.

All uploaded material will pass through a technical verification and detailed online support is available during the upload process.


- Naming of PPT presentations files:

Files should be named in the following format: Year-Month-Day-Time-Surname

Example Title: 2016-09-14-1430-KING


- Upload of PPT presentations: speakers are requested to upload your PPT presentations (which are brought on a USB memory stick) during the coffee-breaks, on any day of the conference, as long as it's prior to your lecture and at least 3 hours before the start of the session. There will be an IT technician at the end of the lectures room ("Europa" room) available to upload your PPT presentations.

In case you would like to know the city, you may contact the registration desk staff. They will be available to help you with information and tourist packages/tickets.

All keynote lectures will be video recorded. These will then be available free of charge for ESCV members as an E-learning program.

Certificate of attendance will be available inside each participant's bag.

Participants will also find 2 feedback questionnaires inside the bags: one general questionnaire about the conference organisation and a specific questionnaire about the scientific lectures.

We kindly ask all participants to fill in both questionnaires and give them back to the registration desk on the last day of the conference.
